A practical checklist for access, fragile belongings, furniture, pets and post-cleaning airflow.
Start with the material and condition
Carpet appearance alone does not identify the fibre, backing, dye stability or appropriate chemistry. Check labels and manufacturer care guidance where available, and disclose previous products or incidents.
What changes the scope?
Room dimensions, stairs, parking, furniture, fibre, soil, staining, odour and drying conditions can all affect the work. Ask for the inclusions, minimum booking and possible extras in writing.
Protect the carpet before and after cleaning
Blot fresh spills instead of rubbing. Avoid mixing products. After professional cleaning, use ventilation, limit traffic and wait until sufficiently dry before replacing heavy furniture.
When routine cleaning is not enough
Sewage, extensive water damage, mould, delicate rugs, dye instability and physical damage may require specialist assessment. Explain the situation early so the appropriate service can be considered.
